O R D E R

% 23.03.2017 It is submitted that petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 have settled their disputes amicably before the Mediation Centre, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, therefore, FIR No. 209/2014 under Sections 498-A/406/34 IPC registered at Police Station Punjabi Bagh, on the complaint of respondent no. 2 may be quashed. Petitioner nos. 2 and 3 are relatives of petitioner no. 1.

Marriage of petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 has already been dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent on 18th July, 2016 passed by the Family Courts, West District, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi.

Respondent no. 2 is present in Court along with her counsel and has been identified by SI Pratap Singh, P.S. Punjabi Bagh. She admits having settled the matter with the petitioner no. 1 of her own free will and without any undue force, coercion and pressure. In terms of the settlement, petitioner no. 1 has handed over two demand drafts for `3,00,000/- each in the names of respondent no. 2 and the minor child born from their wedlock, photocopy whereof has been placed on record. Respondent no. 2 submits that with this payment, entire settled amount stands paid. She further submits that she is not willing to pursue the FIR any further.

Keeping in mind the settlement arrived at between the parties and that marriage between the petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 has already been dissolved, no fruitful purpose would be served to keep the criminal proceedings pending. Accordingly, FIR No. 209/2014 under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC registered at Police Station Punjabi Bagh and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
