This is a petition under Section 29A(4) and (5) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996, for extension of the time available with the learned Sole Arbitrator, to arbitrate on the disputes between the parties and render his award.

Mr. Kumar, learned Counsel appearing for the respondent submits, on instructions, that he has no objection to the grant of extension of time, as prayed in the petition. 3.

I am informed that the time available with the learned Sole Arbitrator already stands expired on 12th September, 2019 and that this petition was preferred shortly thereafter, but owing to objections and the intervention of the lockdown, consequent to the COVID-2019 pandemic, it could not be listed.

In any event, in view of the consent granted by learned Counsel for the respondent, the time available with the learned Sole Arbitrator to complete the arbitral proceedings and render the award thereon, stands extended by a period of one year, from today. 5.
