The present petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter, '1996 Act') has been filed by the Petitioner-Indraprastha Gas Ltd., seeking extension of mandate of the ld. Sole Arbitrator.

The arbitration proceedings arise out of disputes between the parties relating to the Gas Sale Agreement dated 28th December, 2017. Arbitration proceedings were invoked vide letter dated 18th September, 2019. Issues were framed on 12th October, 2022, and thereafter, since the time had lapsed, both parties consented to extension of the mandate of the ld. Sole Arbitrator vide order dated 1st May, 2023. The matter is stated to be pending before the ld. Sole Arbitrator Mr. S.M. Chopra. 4.
The cross examination of the Respondent Witness No. 1 is stated to have been concluded before the ld. Sole Arbitrator on 4th March, 2024, and the second witness is being currently cross-examined .
