1. The latest status report dated 10th April 2018 in FIR No.173/2014 registered at Police Station („PS‟) Nabi Karim, Delhi under Section 363 IPC has been perused by the Court. It has been filed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit („AHTU‟) to which the investigation already stands escalated.

2. The Petitioner has come to the Court regarding the investigation into his complaint about his grandson Sahil, aged about 5 years, having gone missing from outside a shop at about 3 pm on 10th April 2014, i.e. more than four years ago.

3. At one stage, this Court had disposed of the writ petition with the W.P.(CRL) 317/2018 Page 1 of 3

direction to the State to keep the Petitioner informed of the steps taken for recovery of the missing child every six weeks.

4. Aggrieved by the above order, the Petitioner had approached the Supreme Court of India with Special Leave Petition (Criminal) Diary No.30124/2017 which was disposed of on 11th December 2017 by the following order: "Heard learned counsel for the petitioner.

Delay in filing and refiling the special leave petition is condoned. If the order passed by the High Court is not complied with by the authorities concerned, liberty is granted to the petitioner to move the High Court afresh.

With the aforesaid observations and direction, the special leave petition is disposed of.

Pending interlocutory applications, if any, also stand disposed of."

5. Thereafter, the Petitioner filed the present writ petition in which notice was issued by the Court on 1st February 2018. On that date itself, a status report was filed listing out the steps taken to trace the missing child.

6. The second status report filed today by the DCP, Central District again sets out the various steps taken by the AHTU. The reward amount has been enhanced to Rs.1 lakh. Various institutions for children have been approached and the search for the missing child has been made at numerous places in Delhi and outside.

7. The Court is of the view that the AHTU should keep its efforts going and W.P.(CRL) 317/2018 Page 2 of 3

should keep the Petitioner informed of the developments at least once every four weeks. The DCP, Central District will also file a status report before the Magistrate concerned once a month.

8. If the Petitioner has any specific leads, he should provide them in writing to the DCP concerned. If the Petitioner is aggrieved on account of inaction on the part of the police on such leads, it will be open to the Petitioner to revive this petition.
