This is a petition under Section 29A(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of six months to the Arbitral Tribunal to conclude the arbitration proceedings and make the Arbitral Award.

Ms. Nishtha Wadhwa, learned counsel appears for the respondent and states that since this is an international arbitration, there is no requirement for filing the application. However, she states that in case the petition has been filed, she does not oppose the prayer so made. 3.

Even though there is substance in Ms. Wadhwa's submissions, in order to cut short the controversy, the petition is allowed and the time for concluding the arbitration proceedings and making and publishing the arbitral award is extended by another period of ten months with effect from 01.01.2024.

The petition is allowed and disposed of.
