W.P.(C) 5532/2025 1.
The petitioners, who were employees of respondent - Punjab National Bank ["Bank"], seek coverage under the Old Pension Scheme applicable to Central Government Employees, as per the Office Memorandum dated 03.03.2023 issued by Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare, Government of India, instead of the Defined Contributory Pension Scheme currently prevailing at the respondentBank. 2.
Ms. Saahila Lamba, learned counsel for the petitioners, points out that several representations have been submitted to the respondent - Bank in this regard, commencing with representation dated 24.02.2024, and the latest representation dated 02.03.2025.
3.
Without prejudice to the rights and contentions of the parties, I am of the view that the pension policy of the respondent - Bank is a matter on which the Bank must take a decision in the first instance, rather than entertaining the writ petition at this stage. 4.
Mr. Rajesh Kumar Gautam, learned counsel for the respondent - Bank, who appears on advance notice, states that representations will be considered and a decision will be taken within three months from today. 5.
The writ petition is therefore disposed of, leaving all rights and contentions of the parties open for adjudication at a later stage, if necessary.
