This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 Cr.P.C. for issuance of a direction to Respondents No.1 to 4 to provide Police protection to Petitioners to safeguard their lives and liberty, which is a right enshrined in the Constitution of India.

It is stated in the petition that Petitioners are majors and out of their own free will, have entered into a matrimonial relationship. Their marriage was solemnized on 26.04.2024 as per Hindu rites and customs at Arya Samaj Mandir, Sector-14, Rohini. Copies of the Aadhar Cards of Petitioners as proof of their age as well as copy of their marriage certificate as proof of their marriage are placed on record. Petitioner No.2 is a matriculate and her date of birth is 13.03.2005 and therefore both are majors.

The facts and circumstances which compelled the Petitioners to invoke the remedy of Article 226 of the Constitution of India and the jurisdiction of this Court is that Respondents No.5 and 6, who are related to Petitioner No.2 have been harassing and threatening the Petitioners as they are against their marriage.

Learned ASC for the State states that as far as action against Respondents No.5 to 7 is concerned, they are residents of Bihar, and hence a direction cannot be passed against them as that would be outside the territorial jurisdiction of this Court. In any case, it is stated that the mobile number of the Beat Constable of the area concerned has been given to the Petitioners on 06.05.2024 and they are free to call on the said number and assurance is given to the Court that prompt action will be taken in case any help is required.

No further orders are required to be passed. Liberty is granted to the Petitioners to approach the Court of appropriate jurisdiction in case of any other surviving grievance.
