This is a petition filed under Section 29-A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ('Act of 1996').

It is stated in the petition that the mandate of the arbitral tribunal has expired on 31.03.2025. It is also stated that the Respondent has completed the final arguments, and the matter will now be taken up for rejoinder arguments of the claimant/Petitioner.

The Petitioner, therefore, prays that the mandate of the Sole Arbitrator be extended for a period of six (6) months, w.e.f. 01.05.2025, to enable the completion of final arguments and making of arbitral award. further requests for a direction to the arbitral tribunal to expedite the hearing and conclude the proceedings within the extended period. 6.
Issue notice. Learned counsel for the Respondent accepts notice. 6.1 He states that he is agreeable to the request of the Petitioner. 6.2 He states that the Respondent does not admit the allegations made against the Respondent in this petition.

This Court has perused the record. The first hearing in the arbitral proceedings was held on 30.05.2019. Since then, six (6) years have been passed by and the arbitration proceedings are still pending. 8.
Having considered the averments made in the petition and in view of joint request of the parties, the petition is allowed. The mandate of the arbitral tribunal for completion of arbitral proceedings and for passing an arbitral award is extended by a period of six (6) months w.e.f. 01.05.2025. 9.
Further, keeping in view the long-time which has elapsed, the arbitral tribunal is directed to ensure that proceedings are concluded and award is published within six (6) months from today i.e., on or before 31.10.2025. 10.
It is further directed that no unnecessary adjournment be granted to either party and in case,s the parties fail to conclude the oral submissions before 31.07.2025, the arbitral tribunal shall reserve orders and procced to decide the matter as per the record and publish its award before 31.10.2025. 11.
The aforesaid direction has been passed with the consent of the parties.
