The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that the respondent be directed to release the petitioner on emergency parole for a period of eight weeks.

Ms Kapoor, learned ASC appearing for the State submits that the petitioner is not eligible for emergency parole as he has been convicted for committing an offence under the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act).

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if his application is considered as an application for regular parole and not emergency parole.

The competent authority shall take an informed decision and communicate the same to the petitioner as expeditiously as possible and in any event within a period of two weeks from today. 6.
