Mr. D.M. Bhalla, counsel for petitioner, seeks discharge in the matter. No one appears on behalf of petitioner.

Counsel for Delhi Police states that a status report has been filed on 10th August 2023, which is not on record, but has been handed up to the Court.

Counsel for Delhi Police states that they will again file the same status report on record of the Court.

The status report states that after receiving a compliant, an inquiry was conducted and after considering the same and taking necessary approval from DCP, Outer District, FIR no. 596/2022 under Sections 420/34 of IPC was registered at PS Paschim Vihar, East on 14th July 2022. 5.

This petition had been filed initiating contempt proceedings for violating the directions passed by the Supreme Court in W.P. (Crl) 68 of 2008 decision of 12th November 2013 titled Lalita Kumari v Govt. of U.P. & Ors. for not registering an FIR; as per the status report, the same has now been complied with.

Counsel for Delhi Police states that there was some inadvertent delay in registering the FIR, for which he tenders an apology. 8.

Accordingly, the petition is disposed of.
