By way of the present petition, the petitioner seeks quashing of the FIR bearing no. 121/2026, registered at Police Station Budh Vihar, Delhi, for the commission of offence punishable under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter 'IPC') and all consequent proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of settlement arrived at between the parties.

Issue notice. The learned ASC accepts notice on behalf of the State. The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.

The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court and have been identified by their counsel and Investigating Officer (IO) concerned, Police Station Budh Vihar, Delhi.

Brief facts of the case are that petitioner and respondent no. 2 were in a consensual relationship and intended to marry each other. It is stated that due to some misunderstanding, the respondent no. 2 had lodged the complaint, pursuant to which, the present FIR came to be registered against the petitioner. It is stated that petitioner and respondent no. 2 got married on 06.04.2026 and have been living together since then. 7.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2 who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. Respondent no. 2 further states that she got married to the petitioner on 06.04.2026 and has been living together since then. Therefore, she has no objection if the present FIR is quashed.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will and the fact that parties are now married to each other, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.

Accordingly, FIR bearing no. 121/2026, registered at Police Station Budh Vihar, Delhi, for the commission of offence punishable under Section 376 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
