The present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950, seeks the following prayers: - "a) Issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction directing Respondents to permit the petitioner to The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
participate in the missed examination of Common University Entrance Test (UG)-2026 for subject - Mathematics in any city/examination centre on any date of 06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026, in the interest of justice;
Any other or further orders or directions which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case be also passed by the Hon'ble Court in favour of the Petitioner and against the Respondents."
4.
By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking direction to the respondents to permit the petitioner to participate in a missed examination of Common University Entrance Test (UG)-2026 for the subject-Mathematics in any city/examination centre on 06.06.2026 or 07.06.2026. 5.
It is stated in the petition that the petitioner was allotted an examination center at Agra, Uttar Pradesh, for his exam scheduled on 21.05.2025 from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It is further stated that owing to delay in arrival of the Vande Bharat Express Train by which the petitioner was travelling to the exam center, he could reach the examination centre at approximately 08:45 AM. It is alleged that the petitioner was denied participation in the first paper despite his presence at the examination center. It was further stated that immediately upon being denied entry to the first examination paper, the petitioner and his father approached concerned officials and requested that the petitioner be permitted to undertake the examination. Then, he was allowed to appear/take the said examination.
6.
After the exam, the petitioner also addressed representations through mail on 24.05.2026 to respondent No.2 explaining the circumstances which led to delay and requesting a fair opportunity to undertake the missed paper. Despite said representation, no response was received from respondent No.2/NTA. It is further stated in the petition that respondent No.2 has issued The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
public notices on 27.05.2026 whereby, certain examinations have been rescheduled for 06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026 for the candidates affected due to technical glitch in CUET (UG)-2026 on 30.05.2026. Thus, the present petition has been filed seeking an opportunity to undertake the missed Mathematics exam on 06.06.2026 or 07.06.2026.
7.
In the representation/email dated 24.05.2026, the petitioner had stated that, at the main gate, he was initially stopped by the security staff and was not allowed to enter immediately, and permitted entry after some time, following which additional time was taken for frisking and document verification procedures. It was further stated that by the time he reached his allotted lab, the Mathematics examination had already started. The invigilator informed him that he would not be allowed to appear for that paper as the exam had commenced. Later, he was permitted to appear for the remaining two examinations, i.e., Physics, and Physical Education. During the course of hearing, it was, however, also argued by the learned counsel for the petitioner that on account of delay, the Mathematics paper was not displayed on the computer terminal.
8.
Learned counsel for respondent No.2/NTA, who appears on an advance notice, submits that the plea taken in the present petition is itself incorrect. It is the case of respondent No.2 that the petitioner was allowed to appear in the examination, and as per the audit log in possession of respondent No.2, he had appeared in the examination for all the three papers, starting from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It is further pointed out that the paper for Physical Examination was held from 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Mathematics was from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and Physics was from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It is pointed out that the petitioner's case that he could not appear for the Mathematics The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
examination on account of delay in commuting to Agra is, therefore, completely false. Learned counsel for respondent No.2/NTA submits that the audit log placed on record shows that the petitioner was on the computer terminal at 09:00 AM. It is pointed out that the alleged Mathematics exam was scheduled and started from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and by that time, the petitioner was already allotted a computer and he, in fact, was taking his exam at that relevant point in time. Learned counsel has referred to the relevant entries in the audit log to demonstrate the same. Learned counsel for respondent No. 2 has by way an email sent to the Court today shown an audit log to demonstrate the same, and the same is taken on record. 9.
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it is the case of the latter that on account of delay in reaching the examination centre, he was not allowed to take the examination of Mathematics. It is also an admitted case of the petitioner that he had reached the examination centre by 09:00 AM and was allotted the computer terminal.
10.
In the mail dated 24.05.2026 sent by the petitioner to the respondents, it is stated that he was allotted the lab and by that time, the Mathematics examination had already started, and thereafter, the invigilator informed him that he would not be allowed to appear for the Mathematics paper. 11.
The aforesaid stand of the petitioner is clearly contradictory to the audit log placed on record by respondent No.2/NTA before this Court. 12.
During the course of hearing, it was also argued by the learned counsel for the petitioner that on account of delay, the Mathematics paper was not displayed on the computer terminal. The same is clearly contradictory to his own representation/e-mail dated 24.05.2026 sent to the respondents, as pointed out herein above in which it is stated that the invigilator had not The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
allowed him to appear for the Mathematics exam. 13.
In these circumstances, the stand of the petitioner that he was not allowed to take/appear for Mathematics exam on 21.05.2026 on account of delay in reaching the exam centre does not correspond with, and the same is belied from the audit log placed on record by respondent No.2/NTA. 14.
In view thereof, this Court is not inclined to grant reliefs to the petitioner as prayed for.
15.
Accordingly, the present petition is dismissed and disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
16.
Pending application(s), if any, also stands disposed of accordingly. 17.
