This is a Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950 read with Section 528 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 seeking extension of Furlough in connection with the case bearing FIR No. 31/2010 registered under Sections 302, 201 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 at Police Station, Adarsh Nagar.

Issue Notice. Mr. Sangeet Sibou, the learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the learned ASC accepts Notice on behalf of Respondent No. 1. 5.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner states that the Petitioner has been out on first spell of Furlough for a period of three weeks from 06.05.2026 to 28.05.2026. Thereafter a tragic incident of custodial death of the Petitioner's son, Mr. Malkit Singh on 03.06.2026 and the Petitioner has been already been granted second spell of Furlough for a period of two The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. weeks by the Office of the Director General of Prisons, Headquarters, Tihar, Janakpuri, West Delhi ("Office of DGP") vide reference number F.10 (3497425/CJ/Legal/2026/3831) dated 04.06.2026 ("Furlough Order") as per the Delhi Prison Rules, 2018.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner submits that the sudden demise of the son of the Petitioner has left the family emotionally shattered and in need of mental support during this difficult phase. Therefore, the present Petition for extension of Furlough is being preferred on pressing humanitarian and compelling family grounds.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner submits that the Petitioner has surrendered before the Jail Authority on the date assigned to her while granting her Furlough. In view of the same, it is prayed that the present Petition be allowed and the Petitioner be granted extension of the Furlough. 8.

Considering the grave circumstances of the present case, the Furlough granted to the Petitioner on 04.06.2026 by the Office of DGP is extended by a period of three weeks from today on the same terms and conditions as contained in the Furlough Order dated 04.06.2026. 9.

It is directed that immediately upon the expiry of the period of Furlough, the Petitioner shall surrender before the concerned Jail Superintendent.

The Petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid terms. 11.
