This petition has been filed challenging the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2010 read with UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) (Amendment) Regulations, 2014. 2.

Shri Apoorv Kurup, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent/University Grants Commission has at the outset brought to our notice that a new set of regulations called UGC (Institutions deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016 have been issued by the University Grants Commission vide Notification dated 11.07.2016 by virtue of which the impugned regulations as well as the subsequent amendments stood replaced. A copy of the new Regulations dated 11.07.2016 has also been placed before this Court.

Hence, the cause of action does not survive and accordingly the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous.
