Petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition with the following prayers:

"a. Issue a writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction directing the Respondent No. 1 to attest/authenticate the NRI/OCI Certificate and NRI/OCI Sponsorship Certificate and issue further necessary documents in favour of the Petitioner, without further delay; or in the alternative b. Issue a writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction directing the Respondent No. 2 to 7 to waive the requirement of attestation of the NRI/OCI Certificate and NRI/OCI Sponsorship Certificate by the Consulate or Indian Embassy and The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. accept the Petitioner's application with the notarised and apostilled NRI/OCI Certificate and NRI/OCI Sponsorship Certificate;

c. Pass any such other/further order(s) as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit in the facts and circumstances of the present petition."

It is stated that the Petitioner's maternal uncle is an Overseas Citizen of India and is residing in Canada and he is prepared to sponsor the admission of the Petitioner in one of the National Law Universities. He states that the prospectus requires that the documents of sponsorship have to be authenticated by the Consulate General of India, Toronto, Canada. However, the Consulate General of India, Toronto is refusing to attest the documents on the ground that the Petitioner's uncle in an overseas citizen of India and not an NRI.

Learned Counsel for the Respondent states that there is no requirement to get the sponsorship documents attested by the Consulate if the student is sponsored by an OCI card holder and they only need to get the documents apostiled.

In view of the above, the Respondents are directed to authenticate the documents even if it is not required so that the documents can be submitted by the student as required under the prospectus. 5.

The Writ Petition is disposed of, along with the pending applications, if any.
