After some arguments, learned counsel for the petitioner seeks leave to withdraw the petition at this stage, with liberty to make a request to the Trial Court for expeditious trial. Ld. Counsel further submits that the instant FIR pertains to the year 2016 and the applicant is in custody since 26.08.2016 and that 24 witnesses are still remaining to be examined. She also submits that the next date before the Trial Court is 15.10.2024. 2.

The applicant shall be at liberty to make a request to the Trial Court to prepone the said date. Learned APP submits that, subject to preponing the next date of hearing, it would be ensured that the witnesses are summoned for that date. The Trial Court shall keep in mind that the trial pertains to the FIR of the year 2016 and therefore, shall make an endeavour to expedite the trial and conclude the same, preferably within a period of one year from the next date of hearing.
