The petitioner has filed this petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal, which is in seisin of disputes between the parties in two arbitration proceedings, referred to in the petition as Sarju-II and Sarju-III.

I am informed that the learned Arbitrator is hearing both arbitrations simultaneously.

The mandate of the arbitral tribunal was last extended by an order dated 25.01.2024 in O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 59/2024 and expired on 01.05.2024. The learned Arbitrator has reserved the award on 14.12.2023 and has informed the parties that an extension of one month is required in order for the award to be delivered.

Ms. Ritika Singh, learned counsel, has entered appearance on behalf of the respondent and has no objection to such an order being passed in this petition.

With the consent of learned counsel for the parties, the petition is allowed, and the mandate of the learned arbitrator is extended for a period of one month with effect from 01.05.2024 till 01.06.2024. 6.
The petition stands disposed of.
