By way of the present petition, the petitioner seeks to quash the FIR bearing No. 482/2016, dated 01.04.2016 registered at Police Station Rajouri Garden, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter 'IPC'). 2.

The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court and have been identified by their respective counsel and the Investigating Officer (IO) concerned.

Brief facts of the case are that the marriage between the petitioner and respondent no. 2 was solemnized at Delhi, on 20.06.2009. respondent no. 2, and since March 2012, they had been residing separately. Upon the complaint by respondent no. 2, the present FIR came to be registered against the petitioner. It is stated that with the intervention of the family and friends, the parties have now amicably settled their dispute and the marriage between the petitioner and respondent no. 2 has been dissolved under Section 13B of Hindu Marriage Act vide decree of divorce dated 04.10.2018, granted by the Principal Judge, Family Court (West), Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi. The learned counsel for the petitioner has handed over an amount of Rs.4,00,000/- by way of an Accounts Payee Cheque, bearing No. 000042 dated 15.04.2025, towards full and final settlement of her claim. 4.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2 who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. Therefore, she has no objection if the FIR is quashed. 5.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR, and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 6.

Accordingly, FIR bearing No. 482/2016, dated 01.04.2016 registered at Police Station Rajouri Garden, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

The petition stands disposed of.
