The petitioner seeks writ in the nature of mandamus directing Respondent Nos. 4 to 7 not to interfere in her peaceful life.

Petitioner claims that she was staying with her family members, who are the father, brother and cousins in the State of Rajasthan. However, on account of being tortured and harassed by them, she has now shifted to the address mentioned in the petition. The petitioner apprehends that Respondent Nos. 4 to 7 might find out her current address and harass her in future. The present petition at this stage is misconceived. Undisputedly, the petitioner has now left her parental home and has been living independently. No person, including any of the family members, has any right to torture or harass the petitioner who has attained the age of majority. The petitioner is at liberty to not communicate with her family members, if she apprehends any form of harassment or threat.

On being pointedly asked, the learned counsel for the petitioner informs that the petitioner has not provided her mobile number or her current address to any of the family member. In such circumstances, apprehension as stated by the petitioner is misconceived at this stage.

The petitioner is at liberty to contact the area Police Station in case there is any genuine threat to her life and liberty. 8.

Undisputedly, the Police is duty bound to protect the life and liberty of every citizen of this country and is bound to record appropriate report in case the complaint is made in regard to commission of any cognizable offence.

The learned Additional Standing Counsel fairly states that since the petitioner is a woman, the contact number of the area female Beat Officer would be provided to the petitioner and the petitioner is at liberty to contact the Beat Officer in case she feels any threat to her life and liberty.

In view of the above, no orders are required to be passed at this stage.
