The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that directions be issued to respondent nos. 1 to 5 to provide police protection to the petitioners, as well as to the family members of petitioner no.2. 2.

The petitioners state that they are married. They claim that they had married contrary to the wishes of the family members of petitioner no.1 and, therefore, are apprehensive about their safety. 3.

In view of the averments made in the present petition, this Court had by an order dated 19.08.2019, directed the SHO, P.S. Badarpur to ensure that adequate protection is provided to the petitioners. It was further directed that in case any specific complaint is made, the SHO, P.S. Badar Pur would take necessary action in accordance with law.

The status report has been filed wherein it is stated that inquires have revealed that petitioner nos. 1 and 2 have gone to the native place of petitioner no.2 and are no longer residing at the address provided. 5.

The learned counsel appearing for the police authorities state that in view of the above, the order dated 19.08.2019 be recalled. 6.

This Court does not consider it apposite to recall the said order. Clearly, the obligation of the SHO to provide security would be limited to the area within his jurisdiction. In the event, petitioner nos. 1 and 2 approach the SHO for seeking any protection and furnish the necessary material, the concerned SHO shall evaluate the threat perception and shall provide such protection to the petitioners as he considers necessary. 7.

No further orders are required to be passed in this petition. 8.

The petition is disposed of.
