Apropos the Order dated 01.09.2023, a Demand Draft for the sum of Rs.2,50,000/- has been handed over to Respondent No.1/Azad Singh, who is present in Court.

The challenge in the instant writ petition is to the Order dated 27.02.2023 whereby the NHRC directed payment of compensation of Rs.2,50,000/- to the next of the kin of the deceased. The NHRC by its order has made remarks on the Police authorities. The NHRC also directed for departmental proceedings against the erring Police officials. 3.

The statement is taken on record. The aspersions cast on the Police department as a whole stands expunged. However, the direction to hold departmental proceedings against the erring Police officials will continue as directed.

It is made clear that this Court has not made any observation on the merits of the case or the action/inaction of the concerned Police official(s) and the departmental proceedings are directed to be proceeded ahead uninfluenced by any observation of this Court. 6.
With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of along with pending application(s), if any.
