The present petition has been filed on behalf of the Petitioner-Jagmeet Singh under Article 226 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking release of the detained goods of the Petitioner, seized by the Respondent department vide detention receipt No. 003594 dated 23rd January, 2024. 3.

The Petitioner vide the present petition challenges detention of the following items:

i.

Three Iphones (15 Pro Max 256 GB) ii.

One gold chain weighing 60 grams.

The above was detained on 23rd January, 2024 when the Petitioner landed in Delhi from Sharjah, Dubai. detained. According to the Petitioner, the chain is a personal effect of the Petitioner in terms of the Baggage Rules, 2016. 5.

The Petitioner is a Indian citizen.

No show cause notice has been issued. In view thereof, continued detention would be impermissible. Let the Petitioner appear for appraisement before the customs authorities. The date for appearance be communicated on the following email address and mobile number:
