This is a petition filed under Section 29A(4) and 29A(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of the mandate of the learned arbitrator for concluding the arbitration proceedings by a period of one year.

For the said reasons, issue notice.

Ms. Goel, learned counsel accepts notice for and on behalf Mr. Udit Gupta, learned counsel for the respondent and has no objection to the petition.

It is stated that arbitration proceedings could not be concluded in time because an expert witness was required to be examined which took some time.

For the said reasons, I am satisfied that there was sufficient reason which has been explained.

In view of the same, the petition is allowed and the period of arbitral tribunal is extended by a period of one year to conclude the arbitration proceedings and make and publish the award.
