The present petition has been filed seeking following relief: "a. Issue an appropriate writ, order or direction, directing the Respondents to provide immediate and adequate police protection to the Petitioner"

petitioner is receiving threatening calls from Sandeep @ Kala Jatheri who is most wanted gangster of Northern India and is an accused in more than 50 cases of extortion and murder across Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh Punjab, etc. The said gangster is presently lodged in Tihar Jail and is running the extortion racket from the jail itself. 5.

He submits that the petitioner herein has received extortion demand of Rs. 5 crores from the said gangster and he has threatened to eliminate the petitioner and his family on non-fulfilment of said extortion demand. 6.

In view of the above, issue notice. Learned Standing Counsel for the State accepts notice. He has handed over the status report in the Court, the same is taken on record.

With the consent of the parties and considering the limited relief sought, the present petition is taken up for disposal. 8.

A perusal of the status report shows that on a complaint made by the present petitioner, FIR No. 223/2024 under Sections 387/506/120B IPC has been registered on 31.05.2024 at PS Special Cell, Delhi. 9.

Insofar as threat perception is concerned, the learned Standing Counsel submits that assessment of the same is being made by the concerned DCP, Special Cell. Considering the submissions of the learned senior counsel and regard being had to the fact that FIR has already been registered by the police, the DCP Special Cell, Delhi is directed to expedite the process of assessment as regards the threat perception within a period of one week from today and premised on the same, an adequate security may be provided to the petitioner and his family. 10.
