This is a petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ["the Act"] seeking extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of six (6) months in order to pass the Arbitral Award.

It is stated that previously a similar petition under Section 29A of the Act of 1996 was filed and the mandate of the sole arbitrator has been already extended twice vide order(s) dated (i) 05.01.2024 passed in OMP. (MISC.) COMM. No. 663/2023; (ii) order dated 21.05.2024 passed in OMP. (MISC.) COMM. No. 418/2024 and 3.

It is stated that the present petition is being preferred in furtherance of the Order dated 17.04.2025 passed by the Sole Arbitrator wherein it was directed to the parties to move an appropriate application for extension of time before this Court since the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal has expired in the month of October, 2024.

Learned counsel for the Petitioner states that the award is to be pronounced and is pending for want of extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal.

Issue notice. Ms. Jigyasa Sharma, learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent. She states that she has no objection to the present petition being allowed and she as well, joins the Petitioner's request of extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of three (3) months.

Having considered the averments made in the petition and in view of joint request of the parties, the petition is allowed and the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for passing an arbitral award is extended for a period of three (3) months from 08.05.2025 till 08.08.2025. 7.

Accordingly, the petition is disposed of, along with the pending applications, if any.
