O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 343/2019 This petition has been filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for enlargement of time for the Arbitral Tribunal to complete the arbitral proceedings and render its Award. Notice on the petition was issued on September 2, 2019 and on September 13, 2019, Mr. Naresh Kaushik, learned counsel appearing for the respondent sought time to take instructions. According to him, the matter is pending with the competent authority of the respondent organisation for a decision.
I have been informed that the Arbitral Tribunal has heard the
arguments of both sides. Even the written submissions have been filed and the Tribunal is on the verge of pronouncing the award. Accordingly, I deem it appropriate to extend the time for the Arbitral Tribunal to complete the proceedings by rendering its award by a period of three months effective from August 11, 2019.
The petition stands disposed of.
