% 19.05.2016 1.
The petitioner is the owner of a two wheeler bearing Registration No.DL-3S-BT-0001 and he has applied to the Transport Department for retaining the said number in respect of a car. 2.
Mr. Satyakam, learned Additional Standing Cousnel for Govt. of NCT of Delhi submits that registration number of a two wheeler can be retained by the owner in respect of a two wheeler and not in respect of a four wheeler.
It is further submitted that the Transport Deparmtent has fixed rates for choice of a Registration No.0001 at Rs.5,000/- in respect of a two wheeler whereas the minimum reserve price for Registration No.0001 in respect of a four wheeler is Rs.5,00,000/- and the allotment done by open bidding/ e-auctioning.
3.
This Court is of the view that the respondents' policy of permitting the retention of registration number of a vehicle in respect of the vehicle of the same category is fair and reasonable and does not warrant any interference.
4.
There is no merit in this writ petition which is hereby dismissed. J.R. MIDHA, J.
