This is a petition filed under Section 29-A(4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ('Act of 1996') seeking extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal.

It is stated in the petition that the mandate of the arbitral tribunal is expiring on 28.06.2025 and pleadings in the arbitral proceedings stands completed. It is also stated that the mandate of the arbitral proceedings was extended by the coordinate bench of this Court in O.M.P.(MISC.) (COMM.) 650/2024 vide order dated 29.08.2024.

The Petitioner herein prays that the mandate of the Sole Arbitrator be extended for a period of one (1) year, w.e.f. 28.06.2025, to enable the completion of final arguments and making of arbitral award. They state that, without in any manner admitting to the assertions made by the petitioner regarding the claims in dispute, they have no objection to the extension of the time period for arbitration proceedings being extended for one year from 28.06.2025.

This Court has perused the record. Having considered the averments made in the petition and in view of the joint request of the parties, the present petition is allowed. The mandate of the arbitral tribunal for completion of arbitral proceedings and for passing an arbitral award is extended by a period of one (1) year w.e.f. 28.06.2025. 8.
In view thereof, the petition is disposed of.
