O R D E R

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the State, at the outset, points out that the trial is at the fag end and only formal witnesses are left to be examined. He submits that all material witnesses have already been examined. 2.

The learned counsel for the applicants submits that the only evidence against the applicant is the statement given by the brother of the deceased and the disclosure statements of the assailants. He submits that the applicants have been in custody for more than six years.

This Court is conscious of the fact that detention in custody pending completion of trial causes great hardship, however, keeping in mind the fact that trial is at the fag end, the State has assured that no unwarranted adjournments would be taken and all efforts would be made to expedite the examination of the remaining witnesses, this Court does not consider it apposite to entertain the present bail applications at this stage. 5.

However, liberty is granted to the applicants to approach the Court again in case the trial is prolonged. 6.

The application is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. 7.

It is pointed out by the learned counsel for the applicants that the learned Trial Court has fixed the date of 18.04.2024 as the next date for examination of the remaining witnesses. 8.

The learned Trial Court is requested to fix an early date for the said purpose. The learned Trial Court is also requested to expedite the examination of the remaining witnesses. 9.

A copy of this order be also sent to the learned Trial Court for necessary compliance.
