The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India challenging the Detention Order bearing PD-12002/09/2019COFEPOSA dated 19th July, 2019 issued by the Respondent No. 2 under Section 3(1) of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (hereinafter referred to as 'COFEPOSA'). The Petitioner was stated to be detained on 3rd May, 2024. 3.
On 12th June, 2024, ld. Today, learned CGSC Mr. Amit Tiwari appearing on behalf of the Respondents submits that the Detention Order has been revoked vide order dated 18th July, 2024 bearing no. PD-12002/09/2019-COFEPOSA issued by Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (COFEPOSA Wing) in view of the opinion rendered by the Central Advisory Board. The Court is informed that the petitioner has been released from detention.
