By way of the present petition under Article 226, the petitioner seeks to assail the order dated 21.07.2022 passed by the Controlling Authority in No. Gr./218/LO/SD/2020/342-43 vide which the petitioner was directed to pay a gratuity amount of Rs. 1,55,769/- to the Respondent. 2.

Notably, Section 7(7) of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, read with Rule 18 of the Payment of Gratuity (Central) Rules, 1972, provides for appeal against the order passed by the Controlling Authority under the said Act. Accordingly, the present petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to approach the Appellate Authority at the first instance. 3.

Needless to state that the Appellate Authority will consider the matter on its own merits in accordance with law.
