As per the Order dated 30.05.2025, this Court had noted that the missing person, namely, Girish Lohiya was released on 29.05.2025 and is now stated to be in the custody of the petitioner. 2.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that the son of the petitioner was illegally detained and restrained against his will violating the due process of law, and as such, the State be called upon to answer as to on what grounds such illegal detention continued for 15 days. 3.

Per contra, Mr. Bhandari, learned Addl. Standing Counsel submits by referring to the status report dated 06.06.2025 that there was no such illegal detention. submit that, in fact, it was in accordance with the procedure under Section 179 of the BNSS 2023 that son of the petitioner was directed to join investigations and he was asked to leave after the interrogation. The status report be taken on record.

Since the object of the present writ petition seeking habeas corpus has been achieved, no purpose would be served in continuing the present writ petition, which is liable to be disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.

That said, since the petitioner has made serious allegations against the police officials in respect of the illegal detention and restraint by the police authorities, the petitioner is at liberty to take appropriate remedies in accordance with law, if so advised.

In view of the above, the writ petition stands disposed of. 7.

It is made clear that this Court has not entertained the merits of the matter and the rights and contentions of the parties are left open.
