For the reasons stated in the application, the delay in filing is condoned.

The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that respondent nos. 1 to 5 be directed to provide security/protection to the petitioners, as they apprehend harm at the hands of respondent nos. 6 and 7. 4.

The petitioners claim that they are majors and they married each other on 21.06.2019.

The petitioners state that they have done so against the wishes of the parents of petitioner no.1.

They state that in view of the

above, respondent nos. 6 and 7 (parents of petitioner no.1) have issued threats against the petitioners. The petitioners apprehend that they are at risk at the hands of respondent nos. 6 and 7. In the aforesaid context, the petitioners have sought protection from the respondents. 5.

Mr Kundu, learned ASC appearing for the State states that the petitioners are not residing at the address as provided, nonetheless, they have been provided the mobile number of a beat constable. Considering the averments made in the present petition, this Court considers it apposite to direct the petitioners to appear before the SHO, PS Kanjhawla (respondent no.3).

He shall evaluate the threat perception and provide the petitioners such security within his jurisdiction, as he considers necessary. 6.

In the event, the petitioners file any complaint with the concerned police station, SHO shall ensure that due enquiries are made and necessary steps in accordance with law are taken. Respondent no.3 shall also provide contact number of the beat staff and other responsible police officials in order to enable the petitioners to contact them, in case of any eventuality. 7.

The petition is disposed of with the aforesaid directions. 8.
