The petitioners, claiming themselves to be employed with the Rajya Sabha Secretariat/respondent No.1, have filed the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking regularization of their services with the respondent No.1.

Briefly put, the petitioners are statedly contractual employees engaged with respondent No.1, working for a period varying from 7 to 15 years. It is stated that some of them have been providing their services right from day the erstwhile Rajya Sabha Television came into being, the same having merged with the Lok Sabha Television in 2021 to form Sansad Television/respondent No.2.

continuous service over the passage of a decade, the services of the petitioners are yet to be regularized. Rather, it is submitted that the respondent No.1 has abruptly terminated the services of some similarly situated persons in the past. It is stated that the petitioners apprehend illegal termination of their services. It is also submitted that multiple requests regarding regularization have been made on behalf of the petitioners to the concerned authorities, however, the same have remained unanswered. 4.
Learned counsel appearing for respondent Nos. 1 and 2 states, upon instructions, that in order to allay the petitioners' apprehension, a decision has been taken to extend the services of the contractual employees for a period of two years with effect from 01.07.2025. He further states, upon instructions, that in fact, an increment would also be granted from the aforesaid date. Moreover, he states that a decision has been taken to constitute a committee that would look into the petitioners' prayer for regularization in light of the decision passed by the Supreme Court in 'Jaggo v. Union of India', reported as 2024 SCC OnLine 3826 and that the committee would submit its report latest by 31.10.2025. 5.
At this stage, it is deemed apposite to refer to the orders passed by Coordinate Benches of this Court, in W.P.(C) 6214/2025 titled 'Anna Gupta & Anr. V. Sansad Television & Ors' dated 09.05.2025 and W.P.(C) No.8732/2025 titled 'Rakesh Kumar and Ors. V. Sansad Television & Ors.' dated 01.07.2025, dealing with similarly situated persons engaged with the respondents herein.

In view of the aforesaid submissions made on behalf of the respondents as well as the abovementioned orders, the present petition is disposed of in the above terms along with pending applications. petitioners remain aggrieved, they shall be at liberty to approach the Court in accordance with law.

Needless to state, this Court has not commented upon the merits of the contentions of either side.
