% 25.04.2026 The present matter has been taken up today, i.e., 25th April, 2026 as 3rd March, 2026 was declared a holiday.

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent/ MCD to take steps for removal of stray cattle occupying public spaces in and around the vicinity of the petitioner's residence in Mangolpuri, Delhi.

Status reports have been filed on behalf of the respondent/ MCD from time to time, stating action taken by them with regard to impounding of cattle and FIRs against persons illegally running dairies. 3.
In the order passed by this Court on 20th March, 2025, this Court had directed the respondent/ MCD to take action for closing down all illegal dairies running in the area in question.

Pursuant to the aforesaid order, status report was filed on behalf of the respondent/ MCD on 14th July, 2025, wherein it is stated that a joint operation was conducted on 7th May, 2025 in coordination with local Police force from P.S. Mangolpuri and two (2) illegal dairies were identified and sealed.

Photographs of the sealing action were filed along with the status report.

In the latest additional status report filed on behalf of the respondent/ MCD on 11th March, 2026, details of the action taken for impounding cattle from October, 2025 to February, 2026 have been given. The said status report also states that no fresh case of illegal dairy operation has been reported in the area. The relevant extracts from the said status report are set out below:

Taking into account the various status reports filed by the respondent/MCD and the action taken by them, the present writ petition is disposed of while directing the respondent/ MCD and the Local Police to continue to take impounding action against the cattle in the said area and also against the illegal dairies that keep emerging from time to time.
