Issue notice. Counsel mentioned in the appearance above accept notice. Considering the nature of relief sought, no reply is deemed necessary and, with the consent of the parties, the matter is heard and decided at the stage of admission.

The present petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950 read with Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (formerly Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973) seeks police protection against Respondents No. 2 and 3, who are family members of Petitioner No. 2.

The facts, briefly stated, are that the Petitioners, both of whom are adults, solemnized their marriage on 24th August, 2024 at Arya Samaj Mandir, 570/8B/1A, Nakul Gali, Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi-110032. Reliance is placed on a Marriage Certificate dated 24th August, 2024. The marriage was allegedly solemnized against the wishes of Respondents No. 2 and 3, who are stated to have extended threats to the Petitioners, thereby endangering their life and liberty.

Upon a query from the Court, counsel for the Petitioners submits that no formal complaint has yet been lodged with Respondent No. 1 regarding the alleged threats and states that an appropriate complaint shall be filed forthwith.

In view of the foregoing, the present petition is disposed of with a direction that as and when such a complaint is submitted, Respondent No. 1 shall examine the same and, if deemed necessary, extend appropriate protection to the Petitioners. Further based on the assessment, if found necessary, the beat constable of the area concerned shall be duly sensitized and the telephone numbers of the concerned Police Station as well as of the beat constable shall also be provided to the Petitioners in order to enable them to contact the officers, in the event of any threat or apprehension. 6.

With the above directions, the present petition, along with pending application, is disposed of.
