The petitioner has filed this petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seeking extension of the mandate of the learned Arbitrator, who is in seisin of disputes between the parties arising out of a Rate Contract dated 13.04.2016. 2.

The learned Arbitrator was appointed by an order of this Court dated 30.01.2020 in ARB.P. 742/2019. The mandate of the learned Arbitrator expired in September, 2023. It appears that this aspect was overlooked, and the award was reserved on 29.01.2024. The award has not yet been pronounced, presumably on account of the fact that the O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 524/2024 The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. mandate is yet to be extended.

Ms.

Shiva Lakshmi, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, appears on behalf of the respondents, and states that they have no objection to a short extension of time to enable the learned Arbitrator to deliver the award.

Having regard to the above and with consent of learned counsel for the parties, the petition is allowed and the mandate of the learned Arbitrator is extended until 31.10.2024.

The petition, alongwith the pending applications, stands disposed of in these terms.
