% 25.04.2016 The present writ petition has been filed by an acid attack victim seeking compensation in terms of the Supreme Court judgment in Laxmi Vs. Union of India & Others, 2013 (9) SCALE 291. The petitioner also prays for an amount of Rs. 6,50,000/- towards medical expenses. Petitioner further prays for a direction to the respondents to undertake to pay the cost of surgery for tissue expander.
In the writ petition, it has been averred that the petitioner was attacked on 26th August, 2009 with acid and was subsequently again attacked by the same assailant with a knife on 2nd November, 2012. Learned counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner has, till date, nor received any financial or medical assistance from the respondents. She also points out that the petitioner's representation for compensation dated 20th October, 2015 has not been disposed of till date. Consequently, issue notice. Mr. Satyakam, learned additional
standing counsel accepts notice for respondent No. 1. He states that respondent No. 1 shall dispose of the petitioner's representation within a period of four weeks.
Consequently, the present writ petition and pending applications are disposed of with a direction to respondent No. 1 to decide the petitioner's representation dated 20th October, 2015 within a period of four weeks by way of a reasoned order. The said order shall be communicated to the petitioner by registered AD post. Keeping in view the order dated 18th March, 2016 passed in WP(C) 2229/2016, the LNJP hospital is also directed to provide free medical treatment to the petitioner. Cost, if any, for the petitioner's treatment at LNJP hospital shall be borne by the Government of NCT of Delhi.
