The petitioners have approached this Court by way of the present writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a direction to the respondents to grant them promotion to rank of Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Second-in-Command) with effect from 22.12.2020 as against 15.02.2024 from which date, they were actually promoted. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that since it is on account of the respondents' lethargy in not amending the relevant recruitment rules in time that the promotion of the petitioners was delayed. The respondents therefore ought to grant them retrospective seniority. After some arguments, learned counsel submits that at present, the petitioners would be satisfied in case the respondents are directed to consider the representation made by petitioner no. 1 on 22.05.2024, as a representation on behalf of all the The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. petitioners and dispose of the same in a time bound manner. 3.

Learned counsel for the respondents, who appears on advance notice has no objection to this limited aspect.

In the light of the aforesaid stand taken by the parties, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to decide within a period of eight weeks the representation dated 22.05.2024 submitted by the petitioners by passing a reasoned and speaking order.

Needless to say in case the petitioners are aggrieved by any order passed by the respondents, it will be open for them to seek legal recourse as permissible in law.
