By the present petition, the petitioner seeks special leave to appeal against the judgment and final order dated 23.09.2022 (hereafter 'impugned judgment and order'), passed by the learned Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) in Criminal Appeal No. 73 of 2021.

By the judgment dated 29.07.2021 passed by the learned Metropolitan Magistrate (MM), the respondent was convicted for offence under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

By the order on sentence dated 10.08.2021, the respondent was sentenced to fine of ₹99,00,000/- to be paid as compensation to the complainant. The amount of compensation was to be paid to the complainant within 30 days and in default of payment of fine, the respondent was directed to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 02 months.
