The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that directions be issued to respondent nos. 2 and 3 to provide protection and security to the petitioners.

The petitioners claim that they are majors and have since married each other. They further state that the relatives of petitioner no.1 (respondent nos. 4 to 6) are opposed to the said marriage and had issued threats to the petitioners. It is stated that the petitioners belong to different religions and castes and it is stated that the relatives of petitioner no.1 have opposed the marriage for the said reason.

In view of the averments made in the present petition, the SHO, P.S. Lajpat Nagar (respondent no.2) is directed to afford the petitioners protection within his jurisdiction, as he considers necessary. He shall also provide the contact numbers of beat staff/police officials, who can be

contacted by the petitioners in case of any eventuality. 4.

No further orders are required to be passed in this petition. The same is disposed of.

It is clarified that this court has not expressed any opinion as to whether the marriage between the petitioners is valid. The order has been passed solely on the basis of the averments made in the petition that the petitioners apprehend physical harm at the hands of respondent nos. 4 to 6. 6.
