O R D E R

% 31.05.2018 Vide the present petition, the petitioner, has sought quashing of the order dated 02.02.2018, whereby it was decided that the admission of the petitioner in Ph.D Buddhist Studies in University of Delhi for which he had been selected stood cancelled on the ground that he did not possess the requisite qualifying marks of 50 per cent in the entrance test.

Today, Mr.Mohinder JS. Rupal, learned counsel for the respondents states on instructions that the admission committee of the respondents has after deliberation on the recommendations made by the Head of Department (HOD) of Buddhist Studies, reconsidered the matter and has recommended in view of the peculiar facts of the case that the petitioner may subject to fulfilment of all other conditions be considered for admission by ignoring the aforesaid condition of obtaining 50 per cent marks in the entrance test. Mr.Rupal has also handed over copies of office notes, which

show that the HOD, Buddhist Studies, Delhi University has in categoric terms recommended that, the petitioner should be admitted to Ph.D in Buddhist Studies without any further delay and should be allowed to pursue his course alongwith those candidates, who are going to be admitted to Ph.D in Buddhist Studies in July-August 2018. Copy of the aforesaid note is taken on record In view of the aforesaid stand taken by the respondents, the impugned order dated 02.02.2018 holding the petitioner to be ineligible for admission is quashed subject to the petitioner fulfilling other eligibility criteria, the petitioner would be granted admission in Ph.D (Buddhist Studies) in respondent no.1/University in the academic year 2018-19.

The writ petition alongwith pending applications is disposed of in the above terms.
