Present public interest litigation has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to amend the e-filing rules to increase the file size limit for electronic filings to at least 300 MB for the High Court and 150 MB for the District Courts.

The petitioner who appears in person, states that that the current efiling size limits often necessitates the compression of documents which affects the quality of documents. filing documents up-to 300 MB at the High Court e-filing centre. He, however, states that the same requires a visit to the Court premises at specified hours. He also states that current procedures allowing for files beyond 300 MB demonstrate that there is effectively no limit on e-filing size.

He emphasises that because of the limits imposed, the lawyers who are specially-abled are facing difficulties.

A perusal of the paper book reveals that the petitioner has made a representation dated 01st July, 2024 to the Registrar General of this Court, but has not received any response till date.

Consequently, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Registrar General of this Court to decide the petitioner's representation dated 01st July, 2024, as expeditiously as possible, in accordance with law, after getting inputs from National Informatics Centre (NIC)/respondent no.3 as well as from the concerned Administrative Committee.
