The petitioner seeks compassionate appointment in respondent Nos. 2 and 3 - VMMC & Safardjung Hospital ["the Hospital"], in place of his late father who passed away on 25.04.2021 while in service at the Hospital.

Notice was issued in this writ petition on 25.07.2025, and Mr. Chetanya Puri, learned counsel, who entered appearance for the respondent No. 1 - Union of India, states that he has been instructed to appear for respondent Nos. 2 and 3 also.

The petitioner's case is that he applied for compassionate appointment, which was acknowledged by the respondents on 16.12.2022. He was called for verification of documents on 12.12.2023, W.P.(C) 10792/2025 The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. but has not received any communications since. 4.
Mr. Puri submits, upon instructions, that the process of compassionate appointment is under active consideration by the Hospital. He submits that if the petitioner is eligible in terms of the policy in question, and can be accommodated in the available vacancies for compassionate appointments, decision to this effect will be communicated to him within four weeks from today. 5.
It is further directed that the status of the petitioner's request, both on the question of eligibility, and availability of vacancies/wait list position, may be communicated to him within the same period. 6.
The writ petition is disposed of with these directions, without prejudice to the petitioner's right to seek further remedies in the event of an adverse decision.
