By way of present petition, the petitioner is aggrieved by the delay in the trial proceedings as the case pertains to the year 2004 in which the chargesheet came to be filed in the year 2012. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that there is no material against the petitioner in the chargesheet and the same needs to be quashed on account of delay in the trial as well.

Learned SPP for CBI accepts notice and submits that the trial is at the fag end and only two witnesses remain to be examined. He states that the delay is on account of the accused and the lengthy cross-examination conducted on his behalf.

At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner prays that the direction may be given for speedy trial.

Without commenting on the rival submissions on responsibility for the delay, considering that the chargesheet was filed in the year 2012 and now only two witnesses remain to be examined, the present petition is disposed of alongwith the pending application with a direction that the trial court shall make an endeavour to conclude the trial within one year from today.
