O R D E R

% 03.01.2020 The petitioner, who is in judicial custody having been convicted vide judgment dated 09.11.2016 and sentenced vide sentencing order dated 21.11.2016 to life imprisonment in FIR No. 257/2007 u/s 302/120-B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 ('IPC', for short) registered at PS : Khajuri Khas, seeks a mandamus to the respondent jail authorities to decide his application for granting parole, to enable the petitioner to pursue his remedy of filing a Special Leave Petition before the Supreme Court. According to the petitioner, though he has made such application seeking parole but he has not retained a copy of the same.

The petitioner has given various despatch numbers in the petition, which, according to him, are evidence of the fact that he has filed an application seeking parole in October 2019. However, he has not received any response from the respondents so far.

Issue notice.

Learned Standing Counsel for the respondents appears on advance copy and accepts notice. She states that if an application has indeed been made, as averred in the petition, the same would be decided within a period of two weeks.

Learned counsel for the petitioner is agreeable to this course of action. 6.

Accordingly, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to decide the petitioner's parole application, which is stated to be pending with them, within a period of two weeks from today. 7.

A copy of this order be communicated to the Jail Superintendent, Jail No. 14, Mandoli, New Delhi within three days. 8.

Order be given dasti.
