The Petitioner is a senior citizen and the widow of Late Mr. Balwinder Singh Sandhu. Both, the Petitioner and her late husband were recipients of the Shaurya Chakra Award for their acts of bravery. 2.

The Petitioner asserts that although both she and her late husband were beneficiaries of a government scheme providing a monthly allowance to Shaurya Chakra awardees, these payments have ceased. She claims entitlement to her personal monthly allowance, which has been unpaid since 1st March, 2023, and to the spousal allowance as the widow of an awardee, which has been unpaid since 1st May, 2022.
