1. The present petition has been filed under Section 29A (4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking an extension of the mandate of the arbitrator for a period of six months.

2. The arbitral tribunal was appointed by this court vide order dated 27.07.2021. On 17.11.2021, the pleadings stood complete before the arbitral tribunal, and issues were framed on 23.12.2021. It has further been submitted that on 31.07.2023, the parties agreed and gave consent for an extension of the proceedings, and accordingly, the Ld. Tribunal recorded that with the consent of both parties, the time for conducting arbitration proceedings was extended for a period of six months from 01.03.2023 to 01.09.2023. The judgment was also reserved by the Ld. Tribunal vide said order. It has been submitted that the mandate has now expired on 21.12.2023.

3. Learned counsels for the parties submit that the arbitral proceedings have already been concluded and learned Arbitral Tribunal is only to make an award.

4. Considering the aforesaid request and the fact that only an award is to be made, the present petition is allowed and the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal is extended for a period of six months i.e., till 20.06.2024.

5. The present petition is disposed of.
