The present petition has been filed under Section 29-A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter, 'Act of 1996') seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of six (6) months.

None appears on behalf of the respondent despite advance notice. 5.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that the one year period for rendering the award expired on 28th February, 2025. Subsequently, the parties extended the same by a further period of six months, which is to expire on 28th August, 2025.

The matter is stated to be listed for final hearing before the Arbitral Tribunal on 28th August, 2025.

Taking into account that the award is at the final stage and this is a first extension sought in terms of Section 29-A (4) of the Act of 1996, this Court is pleased to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a further period of six (6) months till 27th February, 2026. 8.

The petition is disposed of.
