% 04.03.2016 We notice that the impugned order has dismissed the contempt petition preferred by the appellant by virtue of Section 20 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 [hereafter "the Act"]. Section 19(1) of the Act stipulates that appeals lie when the Court exercises its jurisdiction to punish for contempt and not otherwise. Since contempt petition itself was dismissed, the appeal clearly does not lie. This view has been confirmed by the decisions of this Court as well as the Supreme Court. However, it is open to the appellant to avail of all such remedies as are available in law. The appeal is accordingly dismissed as not maintainable.
